About Jim Drew

James Drew is the Founder and Managing Partner of JDREW & CO where he advises private equity firms and leads healthcare ventures through go‑to‑market readiness, activation, and growth.

With more than 25 years across startups, growth platforms, and $800M‑plus enterprises, Jim is a builder‑operator known for creating clarity, aligning leaders, and installing commercial systems that scale. His career spans the entire commercialization lifecycle, from early‑stage product definition to executive‑level oversight of strategy, marketing, and enterprise performance.

At BCS Financial, a Blue Cross Blue Shield–owned insurer and reinsurer, Jim helped lead a three‑stage transformation that prepared the organization to grow, executed six M&A transactions, launched more than a dozen new products, and helped increase premium from $390M to more than $800M over an 18‑year period. His work modernized BCS’s platform, strengthened its competitive positioning, tightened portfolio performance management, and designed product and commercial systems that scaled across Blue‑branded markets. During this period he also supported or influenced multiple product, portfolio, and acquisitions including BCBS Global, Medical Risk Managers (MRM), and LifeSecure. In each case, he helped align their market positioning and commercial effectiveness. Jim also partnered closely with the board, senior leadership, and rating agencies at BCS — securing an AM Best upgrade while leading strategy, product, and marketing in 2021.

While at BCS, Jim also founded and launched Ancilyze, an insurtech SaaS joint venture between BCS and Allianz. As Founder, President, and Board Member, he took the business from concept to market, developed a first‑of‑its‑kind ancillary distribution intelligence platform, secured national carrier participation, and expanded into multiple BCBS markets.

Since launching his advisory practice in 2023, Jim has served as a fractional leader within multiple healthcare and healthtech startups. As Founding Chief Growth Officer at Medzown, he built the initial go‑to‑market engine and secured the first revenue‑generating distribution partnerships across health plan, stop loss, TPA, captive, and broker channels. As SVP of Marketing at ClearPoint Health and Innovative Stop Loss Solutions (ISLS), he also helped scale a next‑generation captive benefits platform, contributing to ARR growth from $1M to $60M in 12 months and helping position the company for expanded distribution and accelerated market traction.

Jim’s work today centers on commercial execution: sharpened positioning, leadership alignment, disciplined go‑to‑market playbooks, and repeatable sales operations. He brings board‑level experience across investment oversight, governance, transactions, and rating‑agency engagements. Through JDREW & CO, Jim works with sponsors, boards, and executive teams in advisory, interim, and fractional roles, embedding where needed, leading when required, and exiting once clarity and momentum are in place.

When not at work, Jim, his wife Lisa, and his two adult‑age sons reside in the greater Chicago area and spend much of their time enjoying summer and winter sports outdoors in Michigan’s upper peninsula.
