James Drew

Founder & Managing Partner

James Drew is Founder & Managing Partner of JDREW & CO, where he advises private equity firms and healthcare companies on go-to-market strategy, commercial scale, and enterprise transformation.

With 20+ years of experience spanning startups to $800M+ enterprises, Jim has built a reputation as a builder-operator who brings clarity and execution discipline to complex, regulated markets. He has held senior executive and board-level roles across the healthcare and insurance ecosystem, working closely with founders, executive teams, boards, and private equity sponsors during periods of growth, transition, and transformation.

Jim’s operating experience includes senior leadership roles at early-stage startups, growth-stage platforms, and large, institutionally backed organizations. He has served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at ClearPoint Health, where he helped scale a next-generation captive benefits platform; as Founding Chief Growth Officer at Medzown, where he built the company’s initial go-to-market engine and first revenue-generating distribution partnerships; and in multiple senior leadership roles at BCS Financial, a Blue Cross Blue Shield–owned insurer and reinsurer, where he led marketing, product, strategy, and performance functions and contributed to significant premium growth and enterprise value creation.

Earlier in his career, Jim founded and led Ancilyze, an insurtech SaaS joint venture between BCS Financial and Allianz, focused on optimizing ancillary product distribution across regional health plans. As Founder, President, and Board Member, he built the business from concept through scale, partnered with national carriers, and distributed products across multiple Blue Cross Blue Shield markets before BCS acquired Allianz’s equity position.

Across these roles, Jim has consistently focused on commercial execution—clarifying positioning, aligning leadership teams, building scalable go-to-market playbooks, and professionalizing distribution operations. He has worked extensively with private equity–backed and sponsor-owned businesses, helping portfolio companies systemize commercial functions, prepare for M&A and capital events, and navigate post-transaction integration and growth.

Jim brings meaningful board exposure, with experience spanning investment oversight, governance, transaction support, and rating-agency engagement. This perspective allows him to advise boards and sponsors with a balanced understanding of both capital dynamics and customer realities. He is also an early innovator in AI-enabled insurance underwriting and sales distribution platforms, having helped bring technology-driven commercialization models to market well before they became industry standard.

Today, through JDREW & CO, Jim works with private equity firms, boards, and leadership teams in advisory, interim, and fractional roles—embedding where needed, leading when required, and exiting once clarity and momentum are established. His work is grounded in real-world operating experience, executive-level decision making, and measurable outcomes over theory.
